The Guide to traffic safety is intended to: - make available for the first time a logical codification of the best information on the cause and prevention of accidents. - encourage the proper use of available safety features. Human factors are described relating to the driving task. Physiological, psychological aspects of motorcyclists, bicyclists, and pedestrians are reviewed. Indications for medical examinations and human engineering factors are discussed. Canadian good roads motor vehicle safety standards are discussed in relation to the design and prevention of accidents, inspection and maintenance design for prevention of injury. The role of the road, accident rates, road design, road operations, and accident analysis are reviewed.
