Samenvatting
The specifications by the Commission Brokx have given a fundamental change in the relationships between the public transport in urban and regional areas and the central and local government. Privatization, commercialization and marketing are the keywords. Companies have to compete in a certain area, the government concentrates on policy and steps back from the exploitation. The citizens are confronted with the new roles of government and transport companies. The results of a pilot study carried out for the Region Haaglanden (with the city of The Hague as the centre) to the consequences of this new relationships as regards tasks, reponsibilities and organisation, are presented.
