One of the themes of the seminar was on the subject of how the work of commissions of inquiry could contribute to the understanding of accident causation. Statistical analysis is important but there exists a need for in-depth knowledge of the individual accident. Statistical analysis tends to point out a few causes while the reality is often more complex.
