Samenvatting

The possibilities afforded by monitoring road-based hazardous goods movements are of considerable interest in Europe, as elsewhere. A pilot hazardous goods monitoring system was set up as part of the PORTICO DRIVE II project, using Trimble Galaxy GPS/Inmarsat C equipment. The main project partners for the hazardous goods workpackage are MVA Systematica and CPRM. This paper describes issues associated with data exchanged between fleet operators and traffic control centres and outlines conclusions arising from the pilot operations. (A)
