Samenvatting
This article discusses a new ruling in the USA by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on the positioning of head restraints in cars. The aim of the new standard is to provide a head restraint located higher against the occupant's head and within a specified short distance from the back of the head. The requirements come into force in 2009. The article goes on to promote a combination of good design geometry and good dynamic performance as the best protection against whiplash injury.
