This paper uses information gathered by a national survey on the health habits of vehicle drivers conducted in Spain in 1993 to determine the characteristics of drivers over the age of 65. The information was collected from responses to a self-administered questionnaire on sociodemographic aspects, driving guidelines, medical conditions and uses of medication, alcohol and illicit drugs.
