Samenvatting

Copenhagen has chosen the health approach to urban traffic problems. Health can be a way to bring environmental considerations closer to the public. In Copenhagen the result is a strong accent on bicycling (the aim is 50% instead of 113 of all trips in the inner city). Next to that public transport measures are scheduled, including three light rail lines and improvement of the bus system. The push measures come natural, almost as an annex in this fitness program: elimination of through traffic, parking policies and expansion of the pedestrian areas. (A)
