Paper reports on a literature study to trace which parking standards are used in the Netherlands for visitors of Central Areas and to what extent these standards are based on research. On account of the findings the use of parking standards must be rejected as being unsound. Instead an other approach to assess a Central Area's parking demand is suggested.
