Samenvatting

In present live route choice by navigation systems is more and more common. Users want to use the network in an optimal way by following routes that are optimized to their personal interests. This is mostly the fastest route between origin and destination. If the user optimal routes are frequently followed, a sort of societal hindrance can occur. Hindrance for example in the form oftraffic congestion on certain links in the network, combined with the negative consequences that are attached to congestion. Like noise hindrance, air pollution and traffic (un)safety. Also between the differeit users negative consequences can occur in fuel consumption and travel time. In this preliminary study a niethod is developed that calculate and advise routes that are optimized in societal point of view. As a result of this a societal system optimum instead of a user optimum is achieved. Links in the network are equipped with user costs for the societal impact. This impact isa combination of noise hindrance, air pollution, traffic safety, fuel consumption and travel time. Routes are calculated and advïsed on base of minimizing this new user costs.
