Description of the problem giving the fact that a driver at night has only two cues, according to which he has to judge his speed against that of the car in front; the angle between the rear lights and their intensity. Experiments lead to the conclusion that a driver who wishes to increase his speed is prone to choose too high a speed than appropriate, which brings about dangerous situations.
