Samenvatting
Based on a review of literature national (Dutch) and urban freight traffic patterns are described. First, national figures on the current freight traffic by road and related trends are given. Then, the urban freight traffic pattern is characterised in a number of ways. Starting point is the amount and composition of the goods transported. Goods vehicle trips are analysed with respect of their number, the land use at origin and destination, type of vehicle used and the daily pattern.
