This paper deals with a method to value the traffic system in residential districts and neighbourhoods. Several recent realised systems lay out in practice have been analysed on the basis of a check- list which contains questions of structure and provisions for all users. Then the different systems lay out have been tested by so called criteria of livability. Primarily in these criteria is the safety and freedom for the vulnerable users as there are the pedestrians and the cyclists. But also the adequate vehicular and pedestrian access to all parcels should be provided.
