The attractiveness of transit points, from the car into the bus In The Netherlands the problem of traffic congestion keeps on growing each year. Adding infrastructure is time consuming and very expensive if not physically impossible. Therefore the Dutch government is searching for alternative solutions. One of the possible solutions is chain mobility. The idea of chain mobility is that you use on each part of your route that sort of transport that is most efficient for that part. Therefore travellers have to change from modality during the trip. This is a disadvantage compared to a single modality trip and that's why transit points where people switch modality are so important. The transit points should be that attractive that travellers can switch modality time and cost efficient, comfortably and reliable. To make transit points more attractive a lot of measures can be taken to improve social safety, information, reduce time to change and simplify payment of the different modalities. This way an attractive transit point is introduced which is no longer an obstruction for travellers to make use of chain mobility. (Author/publisher)
