Samenvatting

This is the final report on the Dutch `Alcohol and traffic in secondary education' project. The starting point of this project was that prevention in the alcohol and traffic field should commence at a time when habits have not yet been formed, namely during secondary education. To do so, a preventative programme was developed for introduction and implementation at four schools. This was based on data from supporting research consisting of a literature study, a survey held amongst teachers and a market analysis. The implementation process was evaluated by means of discussions with students, teachers and intermediaries. It was concluded that a promising preventative programme has been created. The quality of the educational material developed, the potential for networking and the programme's pilot implementation at schools offer good prospects for continuation following the preparatory period. A number of recommendations were made concerning the educational material employed, ongoing implementation and research. An important recommendation made was that the preventative programme should be linked to `The healthy school and stimulants' programme, following various improvements to the educational material.
