Samenvatting

This article discusses the results of research into why some drivers are more accident prone than others. The charactistics and attitudes of high risk drivers are presented and discussed, as is the influence of driving experience. Special reference is made to the importance of "driving routine": the semi automation of routine driving tasks such as braking or looking to see if it is safe to perform a particular driving manoeuvre.
