Surveys of senior high school students in Washtenaw County were conducted in 1970-71 and 1972-73. Of greatest interest is the finding that alcohol use among high school students increased from 1970 to 1972. The data also indicate greater quantities as well as greater frequencies of alcohol consumption in 1972 than in 1970. In addition, 39% of 1972 respondents reported smoking marijuana and 20% reported using hashish.
