On September 6, 1987 an intercity bus ran off the road, struck a guardrail and a bridge rail, and overturned into its side. The bus- driver and one passenger sustained fatal injuries, and 32 of the remaining 33 bus passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries. The bus- driver's lack of vigilance resulted from the combined adverse effects of sleep deprivation, illness and high dosage of medication.
