Highway evaluation of maintenance work zone safety devices.

At the 1991 SHRP Safety on Two Continents Conference results from closed track testing of maintenance work zone safety devices were presented. Devices shown to be promising in those tests were further evaluated in open highway tests. Open highway testing was performed in actual maintenance work zones. Areas were chosen so that devices were evaluated under different highway and traffic conditions and based upon which states, in the USA, were willing to participate in the studies.
