This Transportation Research Record contains 15 papers on the subject of highway facility design. The papers are organized in the following four areas: (1) roadside safety design; (2) landscape and environmental design and context-sensitive design and solutions; (3) hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality; and (4) utilities. The 2006 series of the Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board consists of approximately 820 papers selected from 2,800 submissions after rigorous peer review. The peer review for each paper published in this volume was coordinated by the sponsoring committee acknowledged at the end of the text; members of the sponsoring committees for the papers in this volume are listed on page II. Many of these papers were presented at the 85th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board in January 2006. (Author/publisher)
