Highway safety by design innovation or can engineering psychology help? Paper presented at the American Psychological Association Meeting, September 8, 1970.

In many instances it is not a question of poor driving performances but rather a poor handling of the driver vehicle highway system interface that is largely responsible for accidents. Potential contributions by engineering psychologists in the field of highway safety are discussed.
