Samenvatting

An account is given of the computer system LIBIS (Lion Inoxilizer 6000 Breath-testing Input System) introduced in conjunction with the Lion Intoxilyzer 6000 with the aim of speeding up the administrative work associated with prosecuting drink drivers. The history of breath testing, problems associated with it and the way in which LIBIS can solve these problems are outlined. LIBIS operates under Microsoft Windows '95 and has the advantages of minimising data entry, eliminating procedural errors, eliminating manual form filling, speeding up procedures and reducing output.
