The Dutch government has introduced three accessibility profiles where a relation has been given between the planning of activities and the accessibility of locations. These three profiles are only generally defined. Because of that, the actual accessibility can be quite different. In this article the concept of accessibility has been analyzed and the necessary choices, the subjectivity and the uncertainties of the profiles are delineated. In the second part of the article, an alternative method is presented whereby insight can be achieved into the accessibility of a location.
