Samenvatting

This paper examines how travel demands generated by hospitals differ from other large institutions and how this demand is likely to change further with changes in health care delivery. It concludes that conventional trade reduction "tools" are likely to be less successful when applied to hospitals. It therefore looks at a range of schemes tailored to the needs of hospitals and aimed at reducing travel demand, spreading demand or encouraging a switch away from car use.
