The papers in this volume deal with various facets of asphalt concrete mixtures. The effect of compaction, segregation, and coarse aggregate properties on the performance of hot-mix asphalt is addressed. Other topics include the application of digital image processing to a quantitative study of asphalt concrete microstructure, moisture and thermal effects on the performance of hot-mix asphalt, and evaluation of fatigue, rutting, and modulus properties on hot-mix asphalt. A case study on the mix design methodology for a warrentied pavement is presented. The final topic covered is improved performance of hot-mix asphalt through new testing methods.
