Samenvatting

A special crosswalk is a crosswalk with extra protection in the form of pavement markings, side and overhead signs, extra lighting, parking prohibitions etc. Special crosswalks do have some problems. Too many vehicles fail to yield, and too many pedestrians step into traffic without giving the driver adequate time to yield. With education and enforcement some of this hazardous behaviour can be reduced.
