Samenvatting
The use of energy absorbers in crew seats of military helicopters has the potential of minimizing spinal injuries during a crash. The determination of human response during such simulated crashes was attempted using a Black Hawk crew seat. A total of 28 impacts with 10 different cadavers were carried out to determine the injury pattern and the biodynamic response. Head and pelvic accelerations were measured along with sled and seat acceleration.
