Urban growth and the development of the megapolis have forced a re-examination of all urban transportation systems in terms of their ability to satisfy human needs and preferences. Encouraging the re-emergence of public transportation in cities requires a total assessment of the physical and behavioral characteristics of the user population as well as their economic, social and esthetic preferences.
