Samenvatting

A series of animal abdominal impacts were designed to study the relationship between shape and type of impactor, impact velocity and direction, body region impacted, and injury level. A positive correlation was found between the degree of abdominal injury and the force surface area, animal mass, and duration of impact in pigs and three species of primates. A cadaver program was initiated as part of the human impact response study.
