Samenvatting

Patients of insomnia complain of inadequate sleep or excessive day-time sleepness. The majority have a temporary difficulty with a history of a few days (transient insomnia) or of a few weeks (short-term insomnia). Transient insomnia arises from a change in the environment or from difficulties associated with work or rest, while short-term insomnia is frequently associated With an emotional crisis. This paper is concerned with transient insomnia and the use of hypnosis in those who have difficulty in sleeping for a few days.
