Samenvatting

This paper provides an overview of how to regulate access into city centres using ICT based solutions most notably those solutions ensuring automatic access and maximum mobility of preferential traffic (public transport, ambulances and other governmental transport). This can be done using traffic priority schemes based on vehicle classes and/or zone- and time based access to city areas. Typical technologies include wireless communication between vehicle and a roadside infrastructure to ensure (an) efficient control over the traffic flow. In this respect citizens' privacy is still to be respected. For the covering abstract see ITRD E209471.
