Samenvatting

Driving exposure measures in vehicle miles of travel were obtained in a national survey of 7145 drivers. The exposure classes were defined according to the interactions among independent variables such as driver, vehicle, road and environmental characteristics. The purpose of the survey was to provide data for analysis to identify unique classifications of exposure, and thus to determine variables, which are useful for future surveys. The article describes the pilot survey and presents the results of the analysis.
