It is clear that traffic accidents have similar reasons, process and results in all countries. But the imagination about these accidents were created in different countries by different group factors, characteristic for each country. It makes that the imagined pictures of traffic accident could be various even in the similar or neighbouring countries. What were the factors which influenced these situations? There are the following: (1) Thee largeness of the area and tied with it ¡ intensivity of traffic. It is clearly visible in comparison between Cracow (about 1 million of inhabitants) and Moscow (about 10 millions of inhabitants). We cannot forget that the number of traffic accidents per day in Moscow is 5 times bigger than in Cracow. It influences the interest of inhabitants in phenomenon of accidents negatively but in different way; (2) The organization and infrastructure of traffic are very important factors of traffic safety. If we could separate the group of pedestrians and vehicles or bicycles or we could eliminate heavy traffic and transit from the center of a city, we would be successful in improving traffic safety. But when the level of traffic safety is low, people feel the danger and are afraid; (3) The level of motorization culture which determines the individual knowledge of citizens about the essence of traffic accidents, their probability and their prevention; (4) The economic development of the country, which determines a range of prevention and about power of policy and rescue service touching the traffic safety; and (5) The national features and national traditions, which create the shape of participation in traffic, for example: the relation to pedestrians and other road users, alcoholism, level of risk undertaking etc. (A) For the covering abstract of the conference see ITRD no 207828.
