Samenvatting
The account of the many possible effects of introducing high speed leads to two major conclusions in the study of demand: 1) forecasting should be superseded by a forward looking estimate which will pay special attention to motivational studies. 2) the estimate should cover a series of links and preferably the entire European network since the impact of high speed is not restricted to the last speed line itself.
