Samenvatting

Time series analysis was used to obtain statistical tests of the impact of raising the drinking age on monthly fatalities in Illinois, Michigan and Massachusetts. A control series design permitted comparison between younger drivers (21 or less years) and older drivers (25 and older) within states were the minimum drinking age was raised. Significant reduction in fatalities among 21 and younger drivers in Illinois and Michigan were observed after these states raised their minimum drinking age.
