Samenvatting

The analysis of the currently used systems reveals that so many different technologies, which will have to be functionally and physically integrated, are being used that it is actually impossible to choose any of them as the base technology. Today, automatic tolling systems represent one of the most widely used ITS technologies, so it appears reasonable to integrate it into one of the existing communication technologies. Mobile telecommunications certainly belong among the most widely used communication technologies. Also, the safety analysis of automatic tolling systems implemented so far has revealed some serious weaknesses, as we usually have to do with integrated tolling and service stations. Free traffic flow tolling as the only acceptable solution will certainly need an adequate technology. The technological model, obtained on the basis of researches conducted at the Road and Road Traffic Centre of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Maribor, has been patented in the Republic of Slovenia. The conducted researches have shown that the proposed system can fulfil all the safety, user and technology related requirements imposed by contemporary traffic demands. A detailed presentation of the proposed system and its analysis are not included due to lack of space. (A) For the covering abstract of the conference see ITRD no 207828.
