Samenvatting
A review of the Integrated Demand Management project on the M25 orbital motorway, providing a mechanism to lock in the benefits created from additional capacity delivered by a widening program. It promotes reliable journey times and better informed travelers across the road network comprising the M25 motorway plus its stubs, tails and immediately adjacent local roads. This paper shares the experiences of strategy generation; focusing on Access Control as the primary management tool and the novel approach of joint road network management between national and local highway authorities. Conclusions include the need for early and continuous stakeholder involvement.
