The Presidential Commission on drunk driving was created in 1982. The functions of the Commission are to heighten public awareness of the seriousness of the drunk driving problem, to persuade states and communities to attack the drunk driving problem in a more organized and systematic manner, to encourage state and local officials and organisations to accept and to use the latest techniques and methods to solve the problem.
