The use of roadside screening devices has greatly aided police in detecting drinking drivers and saving time in mistaken apprehensions. They are by no means the panacea by which to rid the roads of all drink drivers. However, roadside screening devices have been found to be an important and useful component to the enforcement of drinking driving laws, and their use should be encouraged.
