This colloquium focused on four approaches to influencing and encouraging better driver performance. The working group on Educational Influences considered the present situation and the future of research and operations. Indoctrination and training activities feasible in elementary and secondary school curricula, as well as re-education and refresher activities were discussed by this group. The Legal System Influences Group reviewed and extended the codes, laws, regulations, ordinances, etc., designed to control driver status and operation, as well as the activities of formal agencies. The working group which focused on Social Influences reviewed driver bahavior modification involving interpersonal approaches. The Economic Influences group considered the variety of financial costs and rewards attendant to safe and unsafe driving, and how there economic considerations might be used for inducing improved driver performance. This report provides symposes of the discussions of each working group.
