Improving intergroup relations : comparative effects of anticipated cooperation and helping of attraction for an aid-giver.

Effects of offers to help and offers to cooperate on intergroup attraction are compared. The study demonstrates that recipients' responses to prosocial behavior are mediated by the characteristics of the behavior and of the prior relationship between the donor and the recipient.
