Samenvatting

This paper reports research to test the resistance of bituminous materials to permanent deformation. The aims were to find test methods which could predict and quantify rutting, to identify parameters of mix design and constituents which affect rutting behaviour, and to quantify the effects of these parameters on flow deformability of bituminous materials. The materials tested had a sandy skeleton. Tests produced a mathematical deformation law, and the experimental methods were validated by full-scale tests on road sections. The influence of mineral components and of the binder was measured. It was determined that all the components of bituminous materials played a part in resistance to permanent deformation.
