Samenvatting

The study reviewed a multicomponent intervention to improve the bus-riding behavior of students attending an urban public school. The school used technical assistance consultation that emphasized collaboration among students, school personnel, and bus drivers to develop this intervention. Identifying appropriate behaviors during bus transportation, training bus drivers to deliver positive reinforcement and rewarding student performance through weekly school-based lottery were some of the primary intervention procedures utilized. Disruptive behavior that was measured by discipline referrals and suspensions, decreased with intervention relative to baseline phases. The school personnel have assumed responsibility for this continually successful program.
