Samenvatting
This article examines the contribution of nonroad transportation emissions to the overall emissions inventory, and proposes that the control of such emissions is a neglected key to air quality improvement in urban areas. Stricter controls on air pollution from airplanes and airport vehicles, marine vessels and engines, and rail activities--all concentrated in metropolitan areas--are seen as the means to achieve continued improvement of air quality within urban areas.
