Recently, due to the rapid growth in the popularity of Mobile Telecommunications, there has been an increase in data communication applications, such as for e-mail checks from outside locations. In order to respond to the demands for diverse, high-speed multimedia communications, research and development is proceeding worldwide on the next-generation system International Mobile Telecommunications- 2000 (IMT-2000). The completion of this system is expected to aid in the development not only of mobile communications, but also information communication infrastructure that can provide a variety of service applications related to ITS. This paper shows the features of the IMT-2000 services and system, and discusses the main service control technologies that support location information distribution services and car multi-media applications.
