Samenvatting

Incentive programmes for promoting safer driving are discussed. A system of variable speed limits is described. Behaviour modification techniques have been subdivided into three categories. Two approaches to analyse driver behaviour are also described. It is emphasized that an appropriate monitoring system for the behaviour of individual drivers is not present. In place of such a monitor, derivative measures can be useful. On the basis of the literature, methods for monitoring driver behaviour are mentioned. Attention is also paid to other devices for enhancing safe driving. Finally, proposals are made to improve driver safety.
