Samenvatting

Current research approaches aim for systems that prevent hazardous situations than trying to handle them. This is achievable by offering timely andspatially detailed warnings. The objective of a project called DIWA (Driver Information and Warning Applications) is the improvement of the existing broadcasted driver warning system. The new system uses the advantages ofDAB (Digital Audio Broadcast) to fit the user's requirements of an individual warning by a more precise localisation of hazards and the transmission of additional hazards. Standard vehicle components such as radio receivers and navigation systems will warn drivers of trip-related hazards. For the covering abstract see E134653.
