Samenvatting

The influence of advisory letters on the driving behaviour of private motorists was investigated. The degree of response-correct stopping at halt sign- was examined at three intersections. At the two intersections where letters were issued, a significant reduction in the driver-error rate was observed, both types of letters being equally effective. At the control intersection, a constant error rate was observed. Results suggest that personalized communication can be effective in improving driving standards.
