Samenvatting

The aim of this project was to increase the knowledge of the properties of local stabilised pavement materials mixed with fine-grained reactive subgrade soils, supported with quantitative data, in order to facilitate their wider use in road construction and rehabilitation. This paper describes compressive strength and shrinkage test results for different host materials stabilised with different quantities and types of binders. Binder with industrial waste products performed well in comparison to the traditional binders. It has been observed that inclusion of small amounts of reactive fine-grained soil has significant adverse effect on the strength and shrinkage characteristics of stabilised pavement materials, and the designer should take these factors into account.
