Samenvatting

PLEIADES and MELYSSA are two “CORRIDOR” pilot projects of the DRIVE programme. They gathered different european actors such as Administrations, operators of the main road infrastructure networks, car and telecommunication manufacturers, research institutes and users. An important variety of telematic applications developped within the DRIVE programme were tested in order to enhance road transport efficiency, the safety and the environment by putina accent in particular on the road information and its diffusion to road users. INRETS-LEOST was involved in these two pilot projects ont the theme “information to driver during the journey”. The team worked in particular on the road information transmission by the mean of RDS-TMC, in terms of evaluation of the clobal information chain from the collect of data, their diffusion by RDS-TMC to the reception onboard vehicle, on the continuity of road information on both sides of border, on the interoperability and the continuity of RDS-TMC services. The objective of this report is to propose a synthesis of works perfortned by INRETS-LEOST in these two pilot projects on the theme of the information broadcasted by RDS-TMC, to present the measurement methodology used and the different results obtained. Some elements occurinc since these two pilot projects, linked to the deployment of the RDS-TMC services ans to their interoperability in Europe, are also analysed. These present activities come within the scope of the fourth Research and Development Framework. (A)
