Samenvatting

In the frame of its transportation policy, the Brussels Regional Government is aiming at improving the traffic flow by optimising the road network management and enhancing the communication with the traveller. This relies on a better knowledge of the traffic behaviour, tied to the events which can disturb it, and on an appropriate information towards the driver and the intermediate users. Information services already implemented in Brussels and its surroundings or about to be implemented in the near future are described, together with the underlying strategies and media. Special attention is paid to various services implemented in the frame of the CAPITALS PLUS project, which is part of the European Commission's Telematics Application Programme. Some major implementation concerns are also addressed. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
